… and here we are
We first met in 1997 and into 1998. Charlotte was a teenager, Daniel was in his early twenties – and behaviourally, he still is. Life had other plans. We went our separate ways, built full and happy lives, and made some amazing memories along the way. In Charlotte’s case, that included raising two incredible daughters — strong, kind, ambitious, fiercely loving, beautifully independent, and the best source of support accompanied with humour and silliness.
We spent years apart having fun, figuring things out, and living full, occasionally chaotic lives as we got older and much wiser. We have both met some beautifully amazing people along the way, and neither of us has ever looked back to those times with regret. Then came a message, a moment, and a very well-timed second chance. What followed felt easy (ish), unforced, and maybe inevitable; a reconnection that slotted into place without any of the drama we would have brought to it the first time around.
To be fair, it took some explaining. When Charlotte’s daughter Millie first found out, she referred to Daniel as “Mum’s sneaky link”, which was both painfully accurate and entirely deserved. Thankfully, things have evolved since then.
So now, we are getting married, and we are doing it our way. We chose Lofou, Cyprus, not just because you can legally marry here (and avoid the dreaded midweek registry office as well as a second date for Daniel to remember), but because it gives us everything we wanted: sunshine, olive trees, quiet stone villages, long lunches, warm nights, and not a single neon sign in sight. It is calm, unbothered and quietly romantic.
We are so glad you are coming. This is a small wedding, a handful of family and friends, in a tucked-away village, with just the right amount of chaos and coordination. It means the world to us to share it with the people who have been part of our story, in some cases from the very beginning, and in others through all the brilliant, complicated, hilarious chapters in between.
